New to PLC programming and Ladder controls, i'ma an electrical engineer and have mainly made control panels using relays timers counters etc to control ovens, compressors etc. I know how i want the system to operate and Old school i can get this to work however i'm just starting to dip my toe into the world of PLC's I've gone with the LOGO as this sem to be my best option, i have seen plenty of video's on youtube and i understand basic Ladder, son any advice helpful hints etc or leads to more understanding would not go a miss if thats possible.
Hi my name is Neil and currently live in Devon work for a Steel Work company installing repairing machines and creating better processes, been in the electrical industry for 30 years mainly in industrial and commercial. I have recently started to play with PLC's in the past I have designed and made control system using various relays and timers etc, so i'm a bit green but with a very open mind and i soon grasp things. My first project that i'm working on is a powder coating oven the gas burner etc is working well however the control side of it is somewhat dated.
I know how i want it to work and i can do this with relays and timers etc but I want to be able to control all this with a PLC i know it can be done i just need to learn how to do this i have written a ladder program for the basic on off with delay timers and if anyone is prepared to assist me i would be very grateful.
I suppose the first question is that i have run out of room on ladder page and i don't know how to increase the page length. How should we look at your program if you don't show it to us? So i have attached the beginning of this program so what i'm trying to achieve is the following:.

Thanks for the advice i'm back at work on Monday and i will do my best to layout all that information.
Although the LOGO! Even Siemens calls it just a programmable logic module. But if you want to create a program, you should first develop and write down the concept at the beginning. Think about what hardware is needed.

From my experience, honestly,it quite difficult to get the accurate times for star delta changeover.
From this post,i would like to share some information and basic technique how to get the approximate times for Star Delta Starter change over timer.
From this point we can use it to get the approximate time for change over timer. Basically we can use the two measuring method following This method we can measure the ampere during STAR sequence. Prepare the stop watch to measure the time from 0 zero ampere until peak value during STAR sequence. After that use the time that we measure to setting change over for the Star Delta Starter timer.
We need minimum two person to perform this measuring and start stop the starter. Get the information for Full speed of motor at the motor nameplate eg ; rpm. We can measure the speed of motor when space is available or the pulley or shaft not covered such as air-compressor. So stop the watch and take the time reading. Setting your timer with the time that we record and test run for full sequence and take a look if it have any abnormal phenomena.
Normally the base line for timer setting is around 10 until 20 second. Any suggestion, ideas or comment, please share it on my comment box. Thermal overload relay not selected or set properly.
